Caricature

Steve began carving in 1977-78 under the expertise of Harold Enlow. In 1986 he began traveling and teaching the art of caricature carving along with judging competitions. Steve’s various awards include, overall best of Caricature Division at The Woodcarvers Congress, the Henry Taylor award, 2nd Best of Show in the CCA competition and was inducted into the Caricature Carvers of America in 2014.Steve is the author of “Carving Pen Figures” and Carving Figural Kaleidoscopes”. He organizes and manages the Renegade Woodcarvers Roundup which occurs twice a year in Lebanon TN. He is a member of the Tri-State Woodcarvers Club in Evansville, IN, the Capital City Carvers Club of Tallahassee, FL, the Atlanta Woodcarvers Club, the North Alabama Woodcarvers Association, The Emerald Coast Woodcarvers in Destin, FL, and the Flora-Bama Cutups of Pensacola, FL.

Steve is a native of Madisonville, KY and was in the Health Care industry for 27 years before retiring in 2003 and devoting all of his time to carving and teaching. He and his wife, Martha, relocated to Freeport, FL in 2014. They have 2 children and 7 grandchildren.
